Scagliola is a composite substance made from selenite, glue and natural pigments, imitating marble and other hard stones. Scagliola looks just like marble but more adaptable and not so heavy. The material may be veined with colours and applied to a core, or the desired pattern may be carved into a previously prepared scagliola matrix.
Our company founder Lee John Richards trained in Florence, Italy with Alessandro Bianchi learning the ancient art of Scagliola and is widely considered to be a leading expert in both marezzo and traditional Scagliola.
The high standard of craftsmanship carried out by the company has been recognised by numerous awards, including the Plaisterers’ Trophy.
