“Lime plastering to two thatched cottages in Blackpool, Circa 1640. We carried out repairs to the cottages cob walls internally and externally. The main cause of deterioration and damp in the walls was due to the application in recent times of incorrect materials of sand and cement.
These materials are far to hard for a soft background of cob and the sand and cement was carefully removed and replaced with a haired lime putty / sand mix . This mix complements the background and allows breathability in the walls.
Also a concrete floor was removed and a limecrete floor laid in its place.”
