“The future of two of Blackpool’s oldest buildings has been secured – thanks to the efforts of a master craftsman from the resort.

Lee Richards has restored the cottages on Fishers Lane in Marton applying the same materials and techniques that would have been used when the homes were built around 350 years ago.

And the labour of love has also helped him build on his own achievements – he has just become one of only 10 master plasterers appointed in the whole of the country.

Lee, 49, of Norbreck, has used lime mortar to restore the walls of the cottages, and has been working on the project since 2011.

He said: “An old property like this needs a breathable material which is why I have used lime mortar. This is how the work would have been done 350 years ago when the cottages were built.”
